WELCOME BACK – February 2019
Dear Children, Parents and Carers,
On behalf of all the staff at Willow Bank Primary School, we welcome you back this term and hope you have had a good half term break. As always, this term, will continue to be a busy one for your children, our staff and the school and we look forward to continuing to work with you over the course of the next term and year.
IPC Units of Work this term include:
Y1 – Living Things & Habitats
Y2 – Plants, Flowers & Insects
Y3 – Scavengers & Settlers
Y4 – What’s on the menu?
Y5 – Myths, Legends & Beliefs
Over the course of the half term, we will be sharing the outcomes of our recent Parent and Pupil Surveys – what is working well and areas that you would like the school to develop further.
One of the identified areas, noted within the Parent Survey, relates to Homework. Please take a moment to look at the new Home Learning and Thinking Policy within the website. If you would like further information, please also do not hesitate to ask a member of staff for further information.
Big Learning Mornings and Class Assemblies will continue over the course of the term – dates can be found on the school website.
On the 7th March, 2019, we will be celebrating World Book Day – we are inviting everyone to come in to school dressed in their pyjamas for the day. There will be a booky breakfast, children creating Reading Rivers and bedtime stories at the end of the day. We are really looking forward to this special day of celebrating reading.
On 8th March, 2019, we will also be celebrating International Women’s Day – further details, as always, can be found on our website. Children will be researching important women who have made an impact on the world that we live in today. The end of the day will result in a special celebration, which will be attended by special guests from Marks and Spencer, Women’s Aid, Family WellBeing and London South East Colleges – do come and join us!
Comic Relief takes place on 15th March, 2019 – further information about how our school will raise funds to support this fantastic charity will be shared soon.
On the 21st March, 2019, we will be hosting another volunteer recruitment morning – please do come along if you are interested in becoming a volunteer.
On the 4th April, 2019, Mrs Malhi will be celebrating children’s house point achievements with another Hot Chocolate and Cookies afternoon tea.
Finally, just a reminder that the last day of term is 5th April, 2019, school will be finishing at 1.30pm.
All events and regular updates about our school will be shared on our website, Twitter feed (@willowbankpri) and Facebook page.
With kind regards,
Executive Head Teacher
