CEO Welcome Letter
Dear Parents and Carers,
Firstly, I would like to thank you for the continued support you have shown to our schools and to the
wider Woodland Trust throughout the duration of the pandemic, and more recently since January when
we entered this new phase of lockdown.
Although it has been a challenging time to join the trust as CEO, it has been a delight and privilege all the
same. During these first few weeks at Woodland, it has been heart-warming to see how our families and
schools are finding innovative ways to keep connected. Staff across the trust have shown such dedication
and commitment in adapting to remote learning and have been collaborating across schools sharing
successful ideas and practice.
I would like to take this opportunity to share with you a little about myself as it isn’t possible for us to meet
in person yet. I’m a relatively local girl, born in Woolwich, raised in Charlton, and after receiving most of my
own education locally, it has been humbling to serve local communities across Lewisham, Greenwich and
Medway as a teacher over the years.
I have worked in education for fourteen years beginning as a teaching assistant and leaving my last role as
an executive leader of a nine-school trust founded in Greenwich. Throughout this time, I have been driven
to lead school communities with ambition, keeping equity and excellence firmly at the heart of my vision
for children and communities. I was drawn to joining the Woodland Academy Trust as it is committed to a
values-based education which inspires young people to develop their identity and find a fulfilling place in
the world. This mission is something I will be dedicated to as we move into this next chapter.
Over the coming months as I get to know the trust better, I hope to share with you some strategic
priorities and aims for the future. In the meantime, our focus remains staying connected as a school and
trust community and doing our upmost to continue giving children the very best education possible.
Thank you for all that you are doing whether your children are attending school or learning at home,
something I appreciate is new to many of you. You and your families are doing an amazing job. We have
had some lovely examples of learning from across the trust which we thought we would share with you.
As the February half term gets closer, we are reminded that with spring comes longer, warmer days, new
beginnings and hope.
I look forward to meeting you all and welcoming you back to school as soon as it is possible to.
Trust Leader (CEO)
